Funny thing happened when I asked for help.

Yes...a funny foreign thing happened to me today when I asked for help.
I got it.

I shared at a meeting that Ive been struggling with the steps. Ive got the first step down...oh yes...I SO understand and believe that Im an alcoholic and my life is unmanagable.
But where do I go from there??
I struggled with this for days....not knowing how to move forward.
So, I swallowed my pride...admitted I didnt know what the eff I was doing and I dont know how to work the steps.
Guess what Im doing tomorrow?
I have a step study with a fellow member who has 15 years sobriety and HE HAS WHAT I WANT!
You know that peace stuff they talk about? The serenity? (read pages 84 andb 85 of the Big Book) Thats what he's got....and Im lucky enough that he's going to come and do a step study with me.

Huh....weird that it works that way in AA. Ask for help and there it is.
Who woulda thought?

That's great!

I have found that the answers always come when I'm ready for them. You must be ready to move forward.

Julie,

Good for you! I'm proud of you for asking. It's not easy.

I'm just going to throw something out here that may or may not be something for you to think about. Here in my neck of the woods, just to keep things real clean and above-aboard, women work with women and men work with men. Emotions run so high during new sobriety and there are so many complications - it's an easy time to find yourself getting caught up in entanglements you wouldn't otherwise get caught up in. Or even finding yourself thinking about things that really are distractions from your sobriety.

I hesitated to write that but I'm hoping you won't take offense and will take it for what it's worth. Just a bit of info from another part of the world.

Good luck moving forward however you do it.

1is2Many,

That is about the most pleasant summary I have ever read.

What a great post.

I just wanted to say a quick thankyou for that useful information.
Lucky for me, the AA member thats helping me with my step-study is a great deal older than me, and a good friend of my grandpa.
