As I stop partying, I am finding it difficult to change the things that I do for fun.
These issues drive me crazy but I am on a mission to recreate my career.
I am recoveing from many yeard of recklessness to build a future.
This takes hard work and total war on drugs and alcholol.
Foresaking all else in order ot remain sober. Wow, that was a relief. Thank you. I know what I am doing this weekend.
Thursday- Boundries day 2 of 2 day workshop
Friday - Meetig in afternoon, resume and organziation friday night
Sat - All day creative visualization workshop - Silva Mind Control (Repeat class)
Sun - Yoga, church, resume, organization
I put this out as a committment to all, as I have to work hard on passing on an invitation for a 2 days 'party like a rock star" weekend total comp in Atlantic City casino.
Help!!!!!

excuse me!
if, you're on here on this site, can it be that partying isn't fun for you?
Except for going to bars I do everything as I did before with the exception of going to AA functions. I attend concerts, sporting events, comedy clubs. I do this without drinking.
I'd suggest if, you're so called friends are party animals without you having any measurable sobriety under your belt, you distance your self from them. Chances are, you'll succumb to the temptation of a drink or any other substance you were accustomed to doing.

It's always about more than just 'not drinking'.That's just the beginning. It's about creating a new way of living and by the looks of what you've written here-that's what you're doing-and good for you.
I understand how difficult it can seem initially-but honestly?Ask yourself if a two day 'party' would really make you happy?Run the tape through-where would you be at the end of it?My guess is-miserably hung over and a a lot poorer. It looks good-superficially-but we romanticize it.The reality is-it never was good or even fun for us.You know this.
You're doing well-you have some plans in place.Stick to them.

Keep clear in your head the worst of what all that "fun" partying actually was. The reality of it was probably very different to the fun, beer-commercial, yeah-let's-party idea of it that's still in your head.
For me, I don't think of recovery as a "war on alcohol and drugs". It doesn't have to be a battle or a fight or a struggle or a war. Just a few changes, some different choices, some different priorities, a growing, an opening up to life, taking care...
Maybe its just me, but it seems like the whole "war on drugs" has been a catastrophe on a big, social scale, so its maybe not such a great way of thinking about it in my own life.

You can go out and about in the city, I do. But I tend not to go to bars and clubs as there is noting there for me. If your like me and you pick up that first one then your gone again and around we go. How about get well and get a program.
