What Do You Drink? (Not What You Think...)
What Do You Drink? (Not What You Think...)
Golden Girl reminded me of a thread I've had in mind for some time. After a horse ride, she forwent the wine that was consumed by all, and .
Hmmm. Never tried that. Might be good!
We have folks from all over the world here. All walks of life. All kinds of backgrounds.
For 5 weeks I have consumed fruit juice and fruit "drinks" by the gallon. I hate soda pop. I loved good beer and ale.
Many of us are accustomed to having our favorite alcoholic beverage at hand. Part of the "ritual." What do you replace it with? Anything interesting? Anything out of the ordinary?
From bitter to sweet, from exotic to ethnic to "folk." I'll bet we could compile a list of beverages worth trying and modifying that will please some and make other's recoil.
Part of the reason for starting this thread is that I really have nothing to contribute aside what is to be found in the supermarket. I need some inspiration! Something "out of the box" to try and look forward to trying.
Whaddya think? Worth pursuing? A beverage test kichen?

Had a large glass of ice cold apple juice and ginger at home instead.

Hi warrens, sorry to be boring but I drink water, water, and more water. Also love coffee, tried to give it up but could not. Like yourself I do not drink soda, just don't like it. I have the occasional orange juice, but that's about it. However, your post reminded me that I actually used to enjoy apple juice too, might pick some up. Next time I go to the store I will check out the non-alcoholic drinks and let you know what I find. BTW, anyone tried those energy drinks?

When life gives you pomegranates... make lemonade. In this refreshing version, a splash of pomegranate juice adds a sweet-tart note, as well as plenty of good-for-you antioxidants.
Servings: Makes 2 servings
Ingredients1 cup lemonade
1/2 cup club soda
1/4 cup pomegranate juice
Ice cubes PreparationMix lemonade, soda, and pomegranate juice in a small pitcher. Fill 2 tall glasses with ice. Pour lemonade mixture over.
Think I'll try this one!
BTW Epicurious.com has 26 pages of non-alcoholic drinks!

I like sparkling water. Good restaurants will serve it litre size. On the road at a quick stop I usually look for Poland Springs, sometimes orange flavored. What's nice about carbonation is even at room temperature or warmer it has a little kick to it. If I keep enough of it around it can keep me from going for the wine but it's strange how I can run out of water but not alcohol.

I have been drinking the "good" orange juice lately. The stuff that costs a ton and tastes like you are squeezing an orange right into your mouth. I love it, and now that I am not drinking I don't care if it costs $3.00 for a half gallon. I also have been drinking a lot of skim milk for some reason, I used to HATE milk but now I crave it for some reason and find myself going out to the store if I am running low. Weird.
Chai Tea with steamed milk and I love a good espresso. I bought my own espresso maker when I got clean this last time and I love it.
I also drink a lot of water and single serve Crystal Light. I was drinking a lot of soda but knew it was time to cut that too.

I like only cold drinks ...and a variety.
I always have these in my fridge.
Diet Cola
Tea ..with Lemon and Splendra
Cranbeery-Apple Juice..by .Ocean Spray
Tropical Blend by Juicy Juice
V-8...Low Sodium
Milk...2%
A jug of tap Water
When at home...I always have a
beverage at hand.
I have noticed I drink certain drinks
from special glasses
...just as I did with booze!
