An update...
I love you all. Have a blessed Easter.
I'm spending the day with ras and egf (elderly girlfriend).
Hubby is joining us at my sister's after work. Big egg hunt there.
I'm doing a special storytime for all the children in the building.
What can I say....I love a good story.
Jay's doing well, btw. He's working now. He's taking lithium for bi-polar disorder.
He's stopped smoking pot on top of it. That's a blessing.
He said the medication wasn't helping him. Duh, Dumba**!
So now he's decided to quit everything except for what his doctor tells him to
take. No expectations from me and I'm fine with it. lol
No craziness from me anymore. One day at a time, right?
I'm so glad he's working now. It took a long time. It's hard to find work in
the boonies. I'm glad he's out there though. Being with egf and out in the boonies are making a big difference in him, I think.
He'll be 27 in November and he seems like he's finally getting "it".
If not, I'm still gonna be okay. That's how recovery works.
It works, if you work it.
Sending love, hugs, and prayers to my sr family.
Thanks for being here for me.
Love,
Linda
I love your progress report. This is great news that your son is "getting it"
We will be okay no matter what, but we are more satisfied when our kids are doing well and moving toward recovery. That is just how it is as a mom.
I am happy to report good news as well. Easter marks completion of one month of inpatient rehab for my son. Hallelujah! He is in a 12 month program. only 11/12 to go.
I believe will get "it" too. Thanks for being here Linda to share in the ups + downs.

I have read that addiction decreases in each decade with the highest being among the 18-25 year olds and going down from there. I think about people from my generation and how they just grew up. Maybe that is what happens to some addicts. It stops working for them and they just grow up. Too bad that they are not added to the statistics of recovering addicts. If they were I think that we parents might have a bit more hope that our kids will recover too. I am glad that Jay is doing so well. It was a long time coming And you sound like the crazies have disappeared, at least for now. One day at a time, huh? Hugs, Marle
linda, i am happy things are going well for you & your son. you have always been here for me & i appreciate all the support you have given me. i hope your son continues to do good & he can find the miracle in his life. hugs & prayers,
Glad to hear things are going well with Jay, and that he's getting it....
Isn't it great?
Your recovery is shinning!
Hope your Easter was lovely and that the children enjoyed the storytime.
Shalom!

(((((Linda)))) Somehow I missed this earlier. You sound great and I'm glad your son is moving forward too. Maybe EGF is a good influence??? I had to smile reading your post...I wondered if you have ever slipped and called her elderly in real life, lol
Hoping you don't ever have to drop kick her off the porch in her undies (I'm sorry, that story is just one I will never forget!)
Hugs!

What can I say? I was a mother hen back then.
It was funny, at the time. Thinking back...I don't know what came over me.
I just know that she (an enemy) was hiding in my house and my son was lying about it. When I asked her to come out of hiding and she just stood there behind the door, (like she could make herself completely invisible to me)
I just freaked out, grabbed her hair and away we went, panties and all.
I can still see my son running behind me. "She's gonna go mom. Just give her a minute to put on her pants."
I'm so glad those days are over. If things were to get that crazy again...
those goofballs are on their own. It'll never be in my house again. That's for d*mn sure.
Thanks for bringing back a very embarrassing moment that made me smile...
big time.
Love ya,
Linda

I must not have been around when you threw her out the door in her panties!
I'm glad you are past that, but I have to say, the story made me laugh!
I'm really glad your son seems to be doing better. It's amazing how we can do things we need to (like finding work, even in the boonies) when we set our mind to it! I still laugh everytime you talk about the elderly girlfriend. I'm 10 years older than her, so don't want to THINK about being elderly Of course, I don't have a younger boyfriend, either
Hugs and prayers!

I missed this earlier too, Book, but glad things are going better.
And I'm ginning at the mental visual I get at you removing her from your house.
You're such an inspiration here, it's great to read a post like this.
