Saw my son yesterday in jail

He seems to be doing OK, says he's not afraid of going to prison (hmmm)...he told me that they are dropping the "1st degree home invasion" charge and he's supposed to plead to a much lesser charge of larceny in a building. His court appointed attorney says that he will get 18 months to 4 years. The 18 months is a lot less than I thought he would get. He says he wants to look into getting his parole moved to Maryland where his dad lives, I think it's a good idea, staying around this area always seems to get him in deeper. But I do realize that no matter where he is, it's always his decision whether to get high or drunk or not. But I think that his chances for a steady job and such will be better away from Michigan, and his dad "owns" a painting business (so he says lol).
Just an update on our situation...I am feeling better about things, a little easier to sleep now...

Nothing like a good night's sleep. It sounds like you are moving into acceptance of what is. Your son appears to be making the best of his predicament...and learning from it.
Good news all around. No matter his location, how great that you had some time with him.

Last weekend, when my daughter thought she might be going to jail, she told her dad and I it was no big deal. Later she said she didn't want to go to jail and sounded/looked scared. She went back and forth the entire weekend.

Her dad kept trying to impress upon her that it was a very big deal until I asked him to please stop. He was wearing me out, besides her. I figured out what it was all about... false bravado. She wasn't trying to convince us, she was trying to convince herself.

Prayers for all of you.

More Mom hugs from another mother that has seen both of her 'A' children wearing a "state issued" uniform

Glad you feel a little more peaceful and that he is doing the best he can under the circumstances. At least you know he is safe and sheltered. Hugs and prayers

Mom hugs to you, Laura. A good nights sleep is a wonderful thing! Maybe he will learn what he needs to from this experience.
