words of wisdom to pass along
words of wisdom to pass along
Yesterday I severed ties to an Alcoholic friend. This was a guy who has "advised" me (via e-mail and 3 hour phone conversations that ended with me crying and wondering who in the world can i trust) to break up with every guy that I've dated since rekindling our friendship last year. (we had been friends as teenagers/early adulthood and because he moved hadn't heard from each other in well over a decade). Most recently he was behind my distress over my latest potential boyfriend. I wrote about it here. It's complicated and long-winded, mostly I fell prey to yet another Alcoholic manipulator and thought was safe because in my mind he's only a friend who lives hundred of miles away. Regardless he's toxic and I don't need that even in the veil of friendship.
Another friend of mine had this to say.
"Just because some can e-mail you or phone you doesn't mean what they say amounts to a hill of beans"
thought that was an important statement, when trying to detach or have no contact.

The best thing we can do is be positive and active in our spriritual journey and choose friends and mates who contribute. People come and go from our lives and it is a good thing when we understand when it is time to move on.

Sketscher, your phone bills must be enormous!!!
I reckon that just because someone emails or calls me doesn't mean I have to reply/pick up the phone. I have a phone and an email address for MY convenience, not anyone else's. Equally, I anticipate that others think likewise.
Toxic people are toxic people, whether they are partners, friends, co-workers or people I pay to clean my windows. Good for you for making a choice not to continue to be exposed to the crap.

My boss uses this as our company motto "There are no problem's only solutions" and you just gave yourself a solution-I know it can be hard but better for us.
