Hi everyone...I'm here after a series of traumatic incidents made me realize I have to start making changes.
I drink, maybe more than I should but my problem is mainly the alcoholism and drug abuse of friends. My dad was an alcoholic, he's 15 years passed.
I have been attending alanon meetings for a year, plan to continue more aggressively.

Welcome to our recovery community, I'm glad you found us. Al-Anon is a great idea. You may find it helpful to post in our Friends and Families sections, where there are others whose lives have been affected by a loved one's addiction. Good luck

Welcome! Glad you are here! Just remember that genes can play an important role in alcoholism--especially since that you mentioned that your father was an alcoholic. Al-anon is a good start, but you might think about attending an open AA meeting.....only because you mentioned that you need to make some changes and also mentioned that maybe you are drinking more than you should. Just a thought.
