One year of sobriety
One year of sobriety
On Monday my BF will be celebrating one year of sobriety at his favourite AA meeting. His sons and I will be there with him.
BF has really worked hard at his recovery over the past year although things were very tough at times for him, me and our relationship. I go to Al-Anon and we are doing relationship couselling together.
Just wanted you to know that recovery is possible, but only when the alcoholic is ready for it. In his case he realized that if he kept on drinking as he was he would soon lose his business, his family, me and probably his life.
As for me, being with an alcoholic and going through recovery with him has helped me learn a lot about myself.

My BF had his one year celebration today at his AA meeting. It was wonderful. His cousellor from his treatment program was there (he's also a regular at that meeting) and many of the friends he has made over the year. People said nice things about him which emphasized the good qualities I like in him too. Everyone came up to him and congratulated him, some were farther along in the journey and some just starting out. It was very inspiring to see the courage of the people there.
I hope your loved ones are able to find the same path.
Spinner, happy and grateful today
