The Calm Before The Storm?

Advise Please.

I am on day 4 and waiting for the sh** to hit the fan so to speak. the last two times I have tried to quit drinking I experienced withdrawls, and not that I am complaining, but I havn't yet. Before they have been severe enough to hospitalize me.

Is there a possibility I will not have withdrawls this time, eventhough I have been drinking quite heavily on a daily bases.

Currently I am only experiencing minor shakes, a bit of irritability and cold sores on my nose.
Other than that I feel fine.

Should I be counting my blessings or waiting for the bottom to fall out from under me?

From MY experience, I think you are safely out of the woods as far as the physical withdrawls go. I had them within as little as 8 hours. And when I was in detox for them, most times I was discharged on day 4. Now, remember, this is by no means medical advice, this is from my experience.

So, now the Program work begins! Good luck and glad to see you made it through!

Same boat here. I've been on pins and needles last few days waiting for the symptoms to hit me. Nothing yet other than a bit of anxiety from time to time and normal insomnia. Day 6. Went through a day and a half of alcoholic withdrawal mega-flu 2 years ago (it took 4 days to happen then from the day I quit). I think the lack of symptoms this time may be because I was drinking less on average the last two years than I was the previous 5. Dunno.

Hi Too - welcome, or welcome back!

Sorry - there's no Doctors on this website -
If someone here says they're a doctor here - they're lying.
If someone here looks like a doctor -
it's halloween.

that said -
it's different every time.

detoxing, as I'm sure you already know is dangerous without medical supervision.
Lethal, even.
Literally.
I hope you've sought at least a connection to medical help should you need it in a hurry.
Some kind of lifeline to a doc is a comfort in case things DO get rough.

Keep hydrated, keep busy, keep well fed.

Keep your mind the same.

Are you currently in a program of recovery?

Good to hear, Too -

A plan of medical follow through is more comforting at the moment than AA ...

I used to go to a yearly hoss show down in Denver every year.

Boy that was a mother to get to from Montana.

Good for you!
