New Start
Hello to ppl in this forum, seems like a safe place to be :0) I thought I'd introduce myself and say hi.
It's a new start for me today! I'm at the end of day one off of alcohol so I'm happy so far.
I got a grant for a new imac today too so I'm *really* happy to be honest.
:bounce
Back to Uni on Monday, that'll keep me out of trouble as long as I stay off the booze. It's all good incentive. I've got two years to go of a four year degree and I know I won't do as well as I could do if I do continue to drink. So far I've done ok but it's going to get harder this year so I have got to carry on this way!
I have counselling on Monday and Tuesday so looking forward to being able to tell them of my progress.
I'm so grateful for so much in my life, it's not all a downer sunk in the drink thing.
I've got a lovely 9 year old who loves me to bits in return. He's the important one, he's going to be with me this weekend so definately no drinking.
Anyway, thanks for being here :0) Sorry if this is a bit of a waffle, just wanting to connect with some ppl - it all helps on this journey!
Bye for now
M.

Way to go, M! No waffling post there. That was a positive and excellent post! Good luck with your studies, that's what I'm supposed to be doing now at 5:30 am. Give your son a big hug and have fun with him this weekend! Stay sober - you are worth it!

Thanks everyone for the replies and welcomes :0)
Day two here now, and it occurred to me that I didn't think about not drinking until I thought about logging on here and seeing if anyone had responded so that's a positive sign.
I also had another thought, that if I stop drinking I can't feel deprived because if I carry on drinking I'll be depriving myself of life. My alcohol counsellor and I were talking about life the other day, and he asked me whether I've made a decision to really live, that hit pretty deep. I haven't - I'm just doing it because I have to! That has to change.
Anyway - onwards and upwards. Thanks for your support :0)
