very close call
very close call
For those of you who may have been wondering where I've been, I've been in the hospital for the last week. I was released yesterday, but am going into inpatient treatment at a clinic that does psych treatment and alcohol rehab. It's a great 30 day program; my friends at work are paying for a part of the cost and lending me the rest. I feel very blessed for their support.
On Friday the 8th, I took an overdose of pills and drank 1/5th of vodka. I wasn't consciously trying to commit suicide, but I certainly could have died if my husband and friend hadn't found me right away. So I was in the ICU for a day, and then off to the psychiatric hospital for a week. There are complicated reasons (not entirely clear to me) for why I tried to hurt myself that way, but I'll write about those later.
The good news is that they found me right after my attempt, and the ER staff gave me charcoal to absorb the alcohol, as well as other treatment. By Saturday afternoon, my liver panels were normal and blood alcohol down to almost zero.
The psych hospital was interesting--some good things and some very very bad things. My psychiatrist was great, though, and I'm looking forward to inpatient psych and alcohol treatment at a better facility.
I'll post more later--
Peace,
Jana

Count your blessings...the outcome could have been so, so different...and tragic, for your friends and family! Let this be a lesson...learn from it...make the very best of this opportunity for recovery you're being given. What wonderful co-workers you must have!
Thank your lucky stars and be grateful.
I believe everything happens for a reason.
You saved your loved ones alot of grief and misery.
I am so glad to hear your plan.
Good luck and never give up.

One of the things I've noticed about being on SR is that I feel a lot of gratitude toward the other members and the support that I've been getting. It's a good feeling. Here's some more gratitude comin' atcha--
tanyapmc, Barb, Carol, little-el, Rowan, and Pilgrim (and anybody I accidentally forgot): thanks so much. It means so much to me.
Peace,
Jana
