Something on my mind
Something on my mind
I looked through the other forums but didn't see anything
that stood out as a more appropriate place to ask this,
but I'm going job hunting on monday, I have one picked out
that says to go see the manager in person on the ad, and whatnot.
For those of you unfamiliar with all my story, about five months ago
I got in a huge fight with the high school principal where I worked
fixing computers, this was shortly after I got my rib cracked and joined
rehab, so I was withdrawling and in rather decent physical pain,
and when he jumped me, for about the fourth time, for something
I had nothing to do with, right in the hallway, I unleashed on him..
still in the hallway.
Very bad idea. He swore he'd have me gone. I got letters from the teachers
and admin for the school board, so he saw it wasn't gonna work that way,
and through contacts I have there I found out that he took a senior girl
into his office for four two hours, gave her a bunch of detentions and suspended her (she was one more 'in trouble' away from becoming DOC property for a little over three years), brought her back in for another two
and a half hours, and when she left, dropped all her detentions and suspension, and lo and behold, she was now swearing up and down that
I had offered to buy her alcohol.
Her mom slaps a protection order on me, and I am so, so, so angry at the guy
that I know I can never work with him again, so when the judge said, "if
you have no problem not contacting this person, then you can just accept it without admitting you did anything wrong."
So I did (which my lawyer really busted my chops for when she found out about it, especially since I had messages on my machine of the girl crying
and saying she was sorry and was just scared and hadn't known what to do).
My question is, when applying for a job, is that going to show up on my background check? It's a civil thing, not a criminal one, but I still worry that
it will show up, and I don't want to have to explain the whole deal to a stranger..especially a perspective employer.
I don't have a problem being upfront about being in AA and rehab, because those are my own personal doing, and part of who I am, but it makes me really mad to think of having to explain something that I still consider "complete BS" like that.
But the fact is the accounts are dry, I can't pay my feb bills, so I need a job, now.
Anyone have advice/knowledge/expierace that they could send my way?

Hi,
I was fired from my last job. When I went into the interview for the job I have now, when it got to the part "why did you leave?" I told them everything that happened....new manager with whom I didn't get along that well, she made a lot of changes and brought in her own people (all the truth by the way). Did I say that I was fired? No. I'm pretty sure they could figure that one out..my point is that I was honest, and forthright about it. I think that honesty is an important quality that employers look for.
Please let us know how it goes...I'll be thinking of you.

What to do
When I am faced with indecision I pause get quite and pray, God always knows better what I should do than me, prayer works for me, perhaps it will for you. Best wishes in your search.
