We're off to the ER this morning
I cancelled taking her on monday, 'cause it seemed like her symptoms were resolving (my AD has been vomitting and having diarrhea for 2 1/2 weeks. Also a weird itchy rash that comes and goes like hives) but they came back again. Not as bad as the first week she was sick, but still vommitting and diarrhea, and she also shared with me that she often wakes up having soiled herself with stool (she put it less delicately). She did finally speak with a doc at the HIV/family health clinic yesterday. Said doc decided it could wait until her regularly scheduled appointment on Feb 7th, but I disagree. I have nightmare visions of a sky high white count, or a ready to pop appendix, or a desintigrating liver, or.....you get the picture.
My first idea was to go to my mom and ask her to cover the cost of an Urgent Care place - but then I decided not to involve my mom since the cost of all the tests she would likely get is thousands of dollars. She has been approved for "charity care" at this one hospital in Newark so, as my husband says, "Let them give her some."
I am requesting prayers for a)they find out what is wrong with her or at least take the appropriate tests and b) I keep my cool while advocating - I am very, very, very prone to 'losing it' folks, when it comes to things like this and lazy, stupid, condescending hospital personnel who don't give a crap. Ooops, not a good start there, huh? If I walk in with that attitude, they'll be saying, "Calm down Ma'me" in no time and threatening to call the cops on me, and she won't get what she needs. This will be the same ER that refused to give her a copy of her labwork last time (10 days ago) and told her her symptoms were normal for a virus.

I'm glad you are doing this and it doesn't hurt to have someone to shake the cages if they are complacent about how sick she is.
Sending hugs and prayers for both of you today...and lending you my steel-toed bunny slippers just in case anyone there needs a nudge.

Sending prayers for your daughter's health.
I pray they get answers soon on her condition and start
treating it asap. This would drive me crazy too.
Take care and shake that cage.
Hugs,
Linda

Prayers for you, and your daughter.
I'm also praying you find a wonderful, compassionate, Dr. and Nurses that will listen to all your concerns, and treat her, and you, with the dignity, and care you deserve.
(I'm also praying they figure out what the heck is going on!)
