Day 17 check in...hey all
Hey Everybody- sitting at day 17 today...feeling better physically, craving sugar like mad...for now I just go with it. Sat down at midnight last night and ate an entire carton of Ben and Jerry's. Thats gross I know....but it was good.Things are slowly leveling out ...I still get the emotional roller coaster...sudden feelings of intense anxiety and paranoia....sadness...playing the "what if" game and catastrophizing a lot...occasionally sinking into some really gloomy thoughts...but they do pass. Staying on top of the mental health issue...today I increase my med dosage...that usually leads to some fuzziness and wierd feelings..I need to remember its part of the process and not get too rattled by it...hope everyones well...thanks for all you guys do.

Hey Rob, glad to hear mate. Sounds like you are slowly getting better at coping with reality. That's awesome news, 17 days is huge - congratulations!
I think the sugar thing is to be expected, I mean we get used to taking so much of our sugar from alcohol that our body treats booze like food. I think once you've got the meds sorted out, and you start to feel a bit more normal, that the diet thing can happen in it's own time - I've found cooking is a good way to pass the time constructively too, and you end up with something at the end of it!
I made my first potato salad today, and took it to a BBQ - it was good, people liked it, and I felt good about taking the time to do it.
Keep posting, I had crazy dreams last night about having whiskey in my pocket, and I went out today to a BBQ and before I went I had some anxiety issues and thought about not going, but I went anyway and had a great night. I also realised a lot of my own issues, and know that they're still there, and that I'll have to deal with them as I go - they don't automatically get fixed by not drinking.
You're doing really well, keep going one day at a time. I've been thinking of you, man - take care.

Hey Rob well done on your sober time don't worry too much about Ben and Jerry we got some peeps here who routinely polish off an entire carton (I'm not mentioning any names, GT lol).
Stay focused on your sobriety, and keep one foot in front of the other.
