Self imposed prison sentence
"When you're codependent living with someone else's addiction it is like living with a dictator."
"Codependency = Self imposed prison sentence."
It is like living in a cold dark prison
the warden is addiction
the cruelty there is inhumane
the torture is horrendous
a breath away from going completely insane
the addict is our enemy
day after day the same ol' thing
the only thing that changes is the severity of conditions worsens
no peace, no joy, no happiness exist longer than fleeting moments
and when they do exist we are to numb to appreciate them
like the addict we become desensitized
until all that we can feel is sorry for ourselves
we wallow in self pity
defeated .. buried face crying into the pillow
why me, how come, why why why
we shuffle around feeling unloved and undeserving
rejected and neglected we wonder how can we
be so unlovable believing we must be defected
broken
miserable
down down down into the pit of despair we go
and how long we'll stay no one knows
days, months and years can pass
withering away at the bottom of the cell
deteriorating
"Oh God I'm dying here" How much longer can I last.
Look up my child (see the light) look outside yourself and you'll be alright
All those things you've been trying to do on your own .. haven't succeeded
because you've tried to do it alone. I can help you if you let me. All you have to do is ask
"Oh, but I have asked you say" and indeed you have .. asking is the easy part .. it is in letting me that is the hardest task.
I can surround you with those that have trod the paths ahead ... they can gently guide you if your willing to be led.
Willingness is the key here ...
to extend trust and let go of fear
after all has been done and all has failed
to believe in someone other than yourself
believe that I can and I will if YOU will only allow me too
In your heart resolve Not my will but Thy will and trust that I know best
give me your burdens
take care of yourself
I'll do the rest
Fear is conquered in letting go
Freedom comes in letting God
Passion
