Really really dumb AA question

I'm tight on time this morning and want to go to a noon (my first!) meeting. It is disrespectful to throw sweats on over my workout clothes and go straight from the gym. Please understand that the LAST thing I think meetings are is some sort of fashion show - lol. But I didn't know if that was somehow a no-no for whatever reason.

Thanks for indulging the silly worries of a newbie!!

I'm not an AAer, but from what I understand that would be perfectly fine. Good luck with the meeting!

I think they will just be glad you are there. It is no fashion show, it's just a bunch of real people with real problems who do whatever it takes to get there themselves.

Do It!!

Recovery is about so much more than not drinking - I think it would be a great example to others of your dedication to your "whole" self! Have a good meeting!

I remember once I was running late over the summer, I went straight from the water park...flip flops and a wrap over my suit...no one cared a bit! Good Luck!

Straight from the gym to an AA meeting? Done this twice already! Actually, feels great, like you are really taking care of yourself. Have a great day!

Sounds like something I would fret over. I dress better for meetings than I do for my dirty job, but I always feel more warmth when there are people in the room who look like they just got off the recliner to be there.

Sorry I didn't see this post before now! I think the only outfit that would be inappropriate is your Birthday Suit...but, then they'd probably throw a table clothe or something around you, and sit you right up front so you'd be sure to hear the message! Hope you made the meeting in time...what a great way to start the New Year!

Thanks everyone! After going (yeah!!) I realized that it wouldn't have matter if I was wearing a tu-tu and flippers.

And if you had, then I would hate to have missed it.

Well Mamaof2 - how was it?

I take it since your here, that they didn't brainwash you and make you drink the kool-aid.

Very proud of you for going!
