I was so fooled
I was fooled to think a real alcoholic only drinks all day long...
I was fooled to think a real alcoholic didn't take care of their kids
I was fooled to think a real alcoholic got out and would drink and drive
The truth is.......
I only drank in the evenings, the truth is I took and take very good care of my kids, the truth is I never got behind the wheel....and the truth is that I am an alcoholic
Day 19 of sobriety and I actually feel like a different person. I can't believe the energy I have in the morning. I am actually starting to love myself. I look better, sleep better, act better....and to think just a few hours of drinking in the evening could have destroyed all of that!

One of the greatest fallacies is, "You can't become alcoholic, if you only drink beer."
And, I love it when someone says, "He/She doesn't look like an alcoholic", much the same way as they would say, "He doesn't look like a child predator".
There is still so much to be learned (and taught) about alcoholism.

Another thing I was fooled about.......
I was fooled to think you HAVE to drink on New Year's eve....
Truth is you don't have to drink on New Year's eve and imagine how good I will feel tomorrow and how prepared and full of energy I will be to tackle my new exercise program=)
Day 20 *****

Long before I became an alcoholic
I thought the term only applied to homeless derelicts.
*sigh*
It never entered my mind thet alcoholism is a disease.
Or that it is progressive, chronic and fatal.
Many of the people in jails or living on the street
once had all the same exact lifestyle as me...
Wow! was I fooled!
