I was exploring DWI laws, and came accross this.
Dwi, Drunk driving dwi/dui, and a license to drink. A madd, radd, sadd, A.A., and Alanon/Alateen related article.

Such a law might help some folks but my experience is that those who want their drug of choice find a way to get it. Drug addicts can't buy drugs legally but that sure doesn't seem to stop them. Prohibition sure didn't stop folks from getting alcohol.

B52 I totally agree, how ever if a law like this saved 1 life it would be worth it.
Knowing how I was, (when I was in my cups) I would protect my source above all
God knows i'm not for more laws, but I have to put on a seat belt to drive, I'm not allowed to smoke in buildings, 2nd hand smoke kills, 2nd hand drunk drivers kill too.
I need a prescription to buy anything stronger than a aspirin, I need a permit & license
to purchase & carry a firearm. I'm thinking a little more responsiblity on a alcohol consumer might be a good thing. I just found it interesting.

B52 & d57, Your right again, and you could pass the cost onto the alcohol consumer per a larger consumption tax, which could also pay for drug & alcohol abuse programs.
this has been done with gas taxes for years,
