Whats your favorite Christmas cookie?

I love the cut out sugar cookies. We all sit around a table and make a glorious mess with colored frostings and sprinkles.

What is your favorite Christmas cookie or food?

Sour cream sugar cookies with homemade buttercream frosting. I hate the canned frosting. Refuse to eat it. I like my cookies big and soft. Marle

Well...they aren't really 'Christmas cookies' or anything... but I LOVE LOVE LOVE 'no bakes'. They have cocoa, peanut butter, oatmeal and a few other ingredients. You cook the dough on the stove and stick them in the fridge to harden. Oh man, I could eat the whole batch !! Yum Yum !!

I'm with Limb, those "no bakes" are my very very favourite favourites.

For baked cookies, I love gingerbread cookies.

My favorite are Thumbprints with a little dollop of black raspberry jelly in the center. I actually have three favorites. The other two are Snowballs, you know the ones that are rolled in powderd sugar, and lastly, Pecan Tassies.

mmmmmmmmmmyum.

Tomorrow I'm baking Choc. chip, and Thumbprints. I usually make all of my dough and then refridgerate it. Then I take a day and just bake them. Less mess that way.

My son just called and said his wife was baking, the baby was sleeping and he was drinking Hot Cocoa by the Christmas tree and watching the snow fall.
He said life doesn't get any better than this.

Isn't it wonderful to appreciate the small comforting things in life like cookies, hot cocoa, Christmas trees and snow.

Happy baking.............Lo

I make a chocolate cookie that I found in a magazine once, with bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and just a touch of chili powder. Easy and amazing and exotic.

Chili powder?
Sounds strange, yet intriguing...

I love the cut outs. I think it's the whole puttin on Christmas music & having fun. But for cheat cookies I like the Treasures. You take the mini muffin pan, place store bought choc chip cookie dough, bake & place a Hersey Treasue in the middle when it comes out of the oven. Looks like you worked real hard on these.

I am a no-bake connoisseur. lol
I make 6 dozen just the other day for a cookie
exchange I started at work. Big mistake!
Now everyone wants me to make some for the whole
store and bring them in asap.

Last year I made some really good lemon squares with coconut on top.
Those were the bomb, if I do say so myself.
I'm off Monday, so I'll probably be making alot of the no-bakes for
friends/family and co-workers.

OOAL...I don't put mine in the fridge. I just dollop them onto aluminum foil and once they cool, just put'em in a dish. (If they last that long)
My hubby hates peanut butter. Bummer! More for me. :rof

Fun thread. Thanks for asking, Cats.
Love ya,

I have my great grandma's cut out recipe and I love that...Nut butter balls are probably the biggest hit with my family. I also love doing the rice krispie wreathes when I have a couple of little ones to bake with...They are cute cookies and I love getting messy with the kids. And then there are the cranberry and white chocolate and macademia nut cookies...so decadent! I love baking....Just need to find some folks to eat 'em all up, lol

If your girls are looking for no-bakes I found a good one last year that I tried and it was really good. It is more like a candy than a cookie. It taste like a chocolate turtle. Here goes.......

I bag of the little mini square pretzels

A bag or two of Choclolate caramel Rolo's

Put a peice of parchment paper on a cookie sheet

Place your little pretzel squares down

Place a Rolo on top of each pretzel

Bake at 350 for about 7 min, or until the Rolo gets soft

Let cool and you can tie them up in little cello bags
for giveaways. Or you can keep the whole batch and
eat them yourself.

Good luck!

My mother made cookies called Starlight Mint Surprise Cookies. They were made with a refrigerated cookie dough wrapped around a mint wafer, with colorful sugar sprinkles and a pecan half on top. For years Mother could easily find Rockwood mint wafers for the centers of the cookies. Through the years mint wafers became harder to find. One of my daughters still makes a version of the cookie each year to share with family members.

I get requests for orange balls, chocolate pixies, and date-nut balls.

My favorite are Chocolate Snowballs. They are chocolately, melt-in-your-mouth goodness, plus they're simple enough that Tim can help.
