Hello....new here

I am new to this forum.
A little about me. I am the mother of an alcoholic. My son is in his mid-20's and has been through treatment (via intervention) approximately a year ago. He also went through intensive out patient treatment when he was 16. I have read many books on alcoholism (some good some not so good). I have gone to Alanon meetings (good experience). I know that my son relapses but also recognize that I am powerless to do anything about it.
Most days are pretty good. Some (like today) are not so good. I'm hoping to find support on those bad days and give back by being supportive on my good days.
I have been told that I have kind eyes and thus my user name. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Make yourself at home and take a look around the threads here. Oh, and if you go to the stickies at the top of this forum, there is 'some' information there that might be of interest to you. The reason I say 'some' is we've experienced a recent crash, and the stickies are in the process of being re-done.
Have you attended any Alanon meetings recently? I know you said that you used to go. Just wondering if you might consider that to be another support system for you in those bad days too!

Welcome Kindeyes. There are lots of supportive and knowledgeable folks in here for those bad days. I'm sure you can also help the others in here dealing with alcoholic children. There are a number of them.

Welcome, kindeyes. This is a good place for you. There is a lot of support, love, wisdom, and community here, and we will always be here on those days when you need it (and on the other days too )

Welcome!
I am a new here too and as much as I need to do the same - I want to tell you to stay strong. It is hard watching your kids do things that hurt themselves. I am here because my husband is a raging alcoholic and drug user (pot) . My challenge and purpose here on this planet I believe is to try to keep my kids from heading down the path that many in their family have already. I wish you peace and please always remember to take care of yourself too.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I know that today will be a better day than yesterday and your warm reception was wonderful to wake up to this morning. Thank you again. I'll look forward to getting to know you all.
