I was happy as a kid with no beer, so why am I so depressed now that I've stopped - read more of the Big Book?

Come back - there is always someone nearby.
I was incredibly depressed when I gave up alcohol - your body is undergoing many changes. You mentioned the BB - do you have a sponsor, someone you can call to help you through this?
This WILL pass.
