Help needed with stickies
Help needed with stickies
Hey gang, we're still cleaning up the mess from the latest server crash. If you have a minute, we need some help finding the "sticky" posts. They're gone from the top of the forum. So if you could browse around and see if you can find some of the old sticky threads just post the link on this thread and I'll start re-building the whole sticky system.
thanx

I did a search the looooooong way, post by post!
Here's what I found for the 'About Abuse' section...
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-partners.html
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ituations.html
I know there 'should be' more, but I can't locate them. Lost perhaps?

What Addicts Do
My name's Jon. I'm an addict. And this is what addicts do. You cannot nor will not change my behavior. You cannot make me treat you better, let alone with any respect. All I care about, all I think about, is my needs and how to go about fufilling them. You are a tool to me, something to use. When I say I love you I am lying through my teeth, because love is impossible for someone in active addiction. I wouldn't be using if I loved myself, and since I don't, I cannot love you.
My feelings are so pushed down and numbed by my drugs that I could be considered sociopathic. I have no empathy for you or anyone else. It doesn't faze me that I hurt you, leave you hungry, lie to you, cheat on you and steal from you.
My behavior cannot and will not change until i make a decision to stop using/drinking and then follow it up with a plan of action.
And until I make that decision, I will hurt you again and again and again.
Stop being surprised.

Can anyone find the red flags sticky? I have been looking but cannot see it. Thats one that I feel really needs to get back up there. Oooh and also those ones about abusiveness and leaving a dangerous situation? I will keep looking also.
I think I printed off alot of those stickies too, so I will dig them out and put them back up if needs be xxxx

Lilyflower, I've got two re: abuse linked above and I'm working on recreating two more.
Here's a few more I've found (I don't think I've duplicated anyone else's efforts, but I'm not sure)...
Boundary Setting Tips:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ghlight=sticky
Hooks that keep you boundary-less:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ghlight=sticky
Love Illusion:

Two more I've redone for the abuse folder:
DV phone #'s:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...formation.html
how to support an abused woman:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...sed-woman.html
P.S. Would you please change the title of the first one to read:
Domestic Violence Hotline Phone Numbers & Related Information
I couldn't go back to edit the title. I think spelling out Domestic Violence would be better than DV. Thanks!

Have you tried the Wayback Machine?
Dear SR Mods and Techs:
Have you tried one of the Web Archives such as the "Wayback Machine"?
Damn, my <15 post status won't allow a link and any text that looks like a link is rejected... :nono: so you'll have to piece the below together into the hopefully-obvious URL:
www DOT
archive DOT org
backslash
web
backslash
web.php
...or just google "Wayback Machine"
These crawler archives collect and display cached versions of huge hunks of the web across time. You may have to spend a few minutes learning advanced search options so that you can find any missing sections of the SR site, but once you do, you might be able to see pretty much what the Forum(s) looked like on particular dates in the past.
For example, I just did a quick Wayback search for the url of this friends-family-alcoholics" Forum and the last version of the archived board was on Aug 16 2007 ... and the sticky section looked pretty intact to me although I'm no Sticky section expert: I found 5 major Sticky threads with many posts and sublinks within each, and all I tried were apparently intact.
Often, cached versions of sites with many pages (!) will be incomplete -- usually because their crawler didn't cache all the posts associated with the same particular date. In that case, exploring other options under "Advanced Search" or "Compare Archived Pages" can help you piece it together one way or another.
The Wayback Machine has helped me reconstruct many a crashed site over the years (it also serves as concrete verification of the cliche that "Nothing on the Web ever really goes away").
Hope it helps!
