Worst hangover ever-remember why i quit

Last night my husband wanted to go out and we ended up drinking which caused me to have a terrible hangover, I remember now why I quit drinking in the first place- I guess a good reminder I dont want to drink again ever@!!!:praying

I'm sorry that you had to drink again.

What will you do differently the next time someone wants to go out drinking?

Resolve is strong when physical symptoms are troublesome. When you feel better, then what? Hard questions, I know.

Welcome back.

Needtosober - are you attending any support meetings ?

What is your plan to stay sober ? Exactly what steps are you taking ?

Remembering your last hangover will not keep you sober. You need a plan.

Thanks, Rella, the only thing I can do is keep on trying, I went thru detox and quit drinking for a long time so I know I can do it.

I think it's a great idea to go to more meetings. Get phone numbers, and connect regularly with others. Post here if you feel the urge to drink. You can do this.

Needtobesober - yes, meetings are a great idea, spending time with sober people is key... I know it's not easy, but you'll need to learn to say "no". For me, it was tough at first but now, It's as simple as saying "no thanks" and I move on.. Keep posting !

Hi Need2BSober:

In the end, it does come down to just not picking up a drink. However, "just saying no" isn't a very good plan to implement to quit drinking.

Peace.

If it had not been for meetings and calling sober alcoholics I would not have stayed sober for more then a day or 2 after detox, it was everything in my power to drive home with out getting a 12 pack the day I got out of detox. I went to more then 90 meetings in 90 days, I spent just as much time in meetings and working on my recovery for the first 6 months as I did drinking. I got a sponsor (Still do & now I am a sponsor), I worked the steps (Still do and work them with my sponsee), I did service work (still do), and as amazing as this sounds I spend more time with my family then I ever did when I was drinking!

There is a HUGE difference between being with ones family drunk & sober, drunk we are not really there, sober we are.

Hi Taz:

We hear a lot of tragic stories in here. It's so nice to hear the success stories, also.

Peace.
