Angry Last night, I dreamt of drinking!!!

I woke up this morning and for a few horrible moments, I actually thought I had been - my excuse-machine kicked in, ready to justify my actions and tell me it was just a one-off!!!

Then I realised I hadn't been, and had in fact had just dreamed the whole thing!!!

Weird, I'm so relieved I never - my first sober birthday for about 15 years.

Are these dream common?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Congratulations for making it through sober!! Love your work

Yes, I think they are common. I've had quite a few and pleasantly surprised to wake up clear headed, without the furry tongue or sickening sense of guilt and self-disgust.

whew RK!!!

I've had one -

was SOOOO vivid - I was sitting at the bar where I worked, with my usual 'buddies' and turned to the gal next to me and said,
'well, hell - now I KNOW i"m dreaming - look what the hell I'm drinking!"

it was a wine cooler.

I called 'em trailer trash martinis.

I wouldn't be caught DEAD drinking those headaches in a bottle.

woke up - had the TASTE in my mouth.

but that's the only one.

and yeah they're common enough . some people have lots of them others , like me - maybe one or two. also - I was almost six months sober when I had that one.

It was Jack Daniels I was drinking in this dream, it's strange because I was drinking in circumstances I wouldn't normally be drinking in, wonder if that's significant somehow.

Don't care anyway, I wasn't really doing it anyway...

Bring it on dreams, RK is waiting for you!!!

They are common. I even woke up with a fake hangover for about 15 seconds once.

Yeh they are common, i've had a few. Like you it's in circumstances that i wouldn't normally of drank in - like with my dad and stuff (i never drank around my parents cos they're in A.A and also i knew once i strted drinking i would be very discontent if i had to control it or stop, and i didnt wanna get wasted infron of my parents so i woulda had to.) But anyway in that particular dream i was crying with the guilt that i'd done it etc and my dad was v dissapionted but laughing too - it was a nightmare more than a dream!) . The next day i woke up and had that brief feeling of horror, then realised it was a dream and nearly cried with relief!
Unfortunately on Firday i drank again and Saturday morning when i woke i remeber thinking omg is this a dream- but i knw it hadnt been. I had drank. (but im back on track today - and never drinking again- a day at a time) So i wouldn't worry too mcuh about these dreams if u r. At least you still sober.

I've had many drinking dreams. Although a bit frightening, I've learned that they are perfectly normal.
Besides, sometimes it's good to wake up with that fear (for me, anyway) - it reminds me that I don't ever want to wake up feeling that way again.

I have had a few drinking dreams and a couple of dreams taking xanax, the one I remember the best is when I was in detox, the second night I had a dream I was sitting at my kitchen table with a big pile of "bars" (xanax) on my table, talk about a crazy dream and then I woke up.

Oh goodness! I have a few drinking dreams...they scare the hell out me. I had one once that was so real I woke up actually believing it was real. I sat straight up in bed and started that "oh my god, what have done!??" the blood even drained from my face! It took about a minute or two to convince myself that it was a dream (i even had to check the trash for any evidence!).

That was the worst one. The few others that I have had were not that bad (thank goodness!)

Absolutely normal for an alcoholic (especially one in recovery). I'll bet Earth People (what we used to call non-alcoholics where I come from) don't have drinking dreams. They don't have to because they know they can drink safely whenever they want to. We, on the other hand, I guess need to make up somehow for the "loss" we're experiencing. Not to worry...the dreams lessen, and don't recur very often. Just a dream, not reality!

I can taste the booze in my drinking dreams!

I can taste the booze in my drinking dreams! Seriously, Rusty Nails, Jack Rocks, etc.

I've always had very lucid dreams...always in-color, movie-like & long form, returnable to exact stopping point from when awakened...remote viewing quality.

Will be three months sober this X-mas eve. And these drinking and using dreams (even using stuff I never used, like Meth) are my biggest struggle right now. And inter-twinned with the drinking and using is exotic sex, sometimes to wet-dream climax. Whew!

Campral helps big-time while awake, but Cap'n Carl is a bad boy when asleep!

i use to dream of wraping my Z around a pole.
I wake up with shear terrors right before the moment of impac.
Thank god that was a dream.lol

it freanken wierd becuase I'll fall asleeping again...then
in the stupid dream I'm getting a ticket right after
and I'll see an image of me all tangle up in the Z
but I'm arguing with cops.lol

mmm.. do you dream in colors or black and white ?
My dreams are wierd..sometimes there's in black and white
