Today is 30 days for me

WOW! I am happy to say I have been sober for 30 days! I am feeling much better, on some new meds, and sleeping a little better. I have been having some wicked nightmares though!

I have had a few hard days, but for the most part...I scared myself enuf last time to really want this. I have been sober before for as long as 5 years. You forget how scared and desparate you were after a few years go by. Thats when it really gets tough for me.

I am now working on the "reasons" I used alcohol all those years to self medicate. If I dont work on those issues I cant see me staying sober.

Anyway, I want to say a sincere thank you to all of you for being here when I need you. There is always someone here to give support or chat or even reading posts about others issues, give me a reason to hang on!! Thanks All!!

Thanking you all from the bottom of my turkey/dressing/mashedpotatoes/gravy/greenbeans/bread/pie/morepie/whippedcream/ filled stomach!!! (which doesnt leave a lot of room I guess..)

My memories of being burned in the past keep me from sticking my hand in the fire today. It's when I forget, I get burned.

Very true. It sounds like you are doing fine.

I know where I was and I know where I am. I don't know where I will be, but I do know that sticking my hand in a fire is no way to cope with the pain I am in today. Congratulations and best wishes to you in your journey.
