I found 12 Steps on Buddha's Path by Laura S to be an insightful variation on the 12 steps.
I also found a book called Cocaine Addiction very helpful in understanding that particular problem (not my DOC but my partner's)--unfortunately I don't remember the author. But it explained the physiological components of coke addiction very, very clearly and that somehow helped me to view the whole problem with more compassion. I've heard Under the Influence is good that way about alcoholism--a fairly clinical description of the problem.

And the 12 +12--often just what works for me, somehow.

Any books dealing with cognitve retraining were my best help. Dr Burns has one claled Feeling Good.............really helpful to me, it isn't about addiction, but the tools I learned from this book help me in every way imaginable.
Also all books by Dr Wayne Dyer, very very good, especially Your Sacred Self and Real Magic.
