when they won't quit
When they wont Quit
My ship is sinking.
I have tried to patch the holes,
Taken buckets to throw out the impeding waters.
But, to no avail.
I feel my ship is lost.
I look out into the murky sea.
No one is there to help.
No land is in sight.
I look up the sky is churning.
Thick, heavy clouds loom above.
I thought staying on board would be better
But as I look around, things are falling apart.
The mast is torn.
It can never be repaired.
My compass is defective.
I wonder if I will ever find the right way.
The waves are surpassing their usual sizes.
I guess it is time.
I must bail out before I become one with this withered boat.
I Wave the white flag into the air and jump.

Hi-
No your own ship is not really sinking. You ship is having holes drilled into it because of the addiction.
You are tired of patching the holes. You patch a hole and you think this will stop the sinking. You then find two more new holes the addiction has put into the ship. And so it continues. You fixing the holes only to find new holes. This will continue until you get tired of fixing the holes.
Your ship has addiction aboard and when addiction leaves your ship will be fine.
It is hard to make addiction walk the plank but when you finally get tired of fixing things it will happen. I have been there and it is no fun.
My ship is not leaking any more but I still have some minor contact with the addict so I still have to throw the addiction overboard and say no more. It is hard and is still hard for me. There is no way someone or any addiction will be drilling holes in my life again. Please note it took me many years to get to this point. I could not have done it with out the help from everyone on this forum. I still ask questions and am still learning!!!!!
Best wishes always!!!!
