Smile Can we change overnight

Can we change overnight? This is always been a pending question. Yes it is possible, there are things that you must believe in and sacrifice for it but it is posible. I have alot of people tell me that you cant change overnight. That is true is totally you cant but in someone yes you can.

First you must admit to yourself that there is a problem and really admit it not just say it.
Second you must be ready to totally change your life and be ready for the good or bad that will come with it.
Third you make a mistake not to dwell on it but only learn and move move on. This is the hardest to do.
Fourth you must have faith and believe. We cannot change if we dont believe we can or dont have faith in ourselves.

Life is not promised to us. Nobody gaurentee us tommorrow so why do we live for it then. I believe this is because we dont want to see today and think that tommorrow will be better. Without faith and our HP we are doomed to fail. We are also doomed to fail if we allow ourselves to fail. The hardest part about recovery is to face ourselves and admit we are weak and we cant do it alone. Once we can do it and some of us have to hit rock bottom, to learn this,( Just as I had to hit rock bottom and loose everything before I learned). Now that i have the faith and and believe the only thing that is holding me back is? I dont know cause the sky and beyond is the limit. I am not a preacher, I am only here sharing my experince and hope and what I have done. I wish i did it earlier, but that is not here nor there. It is what it is! May god bless everyone and always keep the faith inself cause we can do it and dont be afraid to ask for help.

In my opinion This is a process nothing happens overnight. Exactly if we dont admit there is a problem then we cant do anything about something that doesnt exist. Living for tommorow is a problem, I need to be present. If im not I will be missing the miracles right in front of me. Blessings

I'm tony on this one.
yet i can't say it's imposisable, becuase nothing is imposiable.

I know there was a dratic changed in me, and i felt good
and i rode that pink cloud as long as i can and never wanted
to off. For almost a year i was in a state of blizts..clean and sober.
And the oldtimers never gave me a hard time, they were happy for me.
I needed it. i needed to know there's happiness and all of this recovery
stuff is worth while and worth living for. I enjoy every moment of it
becuase i was living in the moment from moment to moment.
Ride it as long as you can.

The thing about me is, there a a cycle i go through...right around
the 2 years mark. For reasons i go into self sabatage
mode. i recognized it by doing the 4th step.

Getting clean and sober on my own for 2 -3 months wasn't
something new for me prior to recovery. i do the behavior adjustment
and selfdiscipline until life gets better, then i get bore and wanna start
a riot.lol I kind of master the art of getting sober..it's that staying sober
i didn't quit grasph yet.lol

I do believe you can change overnight, but the followup on the change is a process. I know on October 8 I changed, I made the decision to never drink again. I also know that decision must be reinforced on a daily basis.

I would add that faith in a higher power is necessary, as no human power could have relieved my alcoholism.

And from the BB:

What we have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.

I hope to change everyday for the positive. Do I expect to become a saint? No. I don't think I will ever get there. That doesn't mean I can't try. I've been fighting this disease my whole life it seems. Everytime I looked behind my back there it was. Soon after it would destroy all my happiness and I would once again, be left with nothing but my misery. This would happen time and time again and it brought me to my knees screaming for something to help me. I did find something. I have the god of my understanding. He will not leave me to die. He has shown me lessons and teachings and "I", capital "I" refused to listen or see that he was working through others to help me. Now I change everyday, because if I don't I will die.

The only overnight change I experienced was that one day I was an active alcoholic, and the next day I was a recovering one. All the other changes came through a long and arduous process. Actually, even after all these many years, I still consider myself a work in progress.

Yes we can change over night as jersey said "one day I was an active alcoholic, and the next day I was a recovering one. ". That holds very true for me, it was a begining of a life long process of continual change.

Do we totally change overnight? No I do not think so, just like we did not cross that invisable line in our disease over night, we have to continue to learn and change ourselfs to become better happier people.
