Thought for the Day 6/3
Thought for the Day 6/3
Compassion is the basis of all morality.
— Arthur Schopenhauer
We can have cash-register honesty and still be immoral. We can be faithful to our partners, diligent in our work, scrupulous in paying our debts, careful not to gossip, and determined not to steal from anyone — yet God will take little notice if we are not loving. The basis of our recovery program is compassion and love for one another.
Our understanding of each other's feelings and our desire to help is the foundation of our recovery. We are never as close to God as in our compassionate moments. That's when we know the true meaning of morality. That's when we know God.
I remember the compassion that brought me to recovery. May my actions today be a reflection of that love.

Thank you JT! I enjoy reading your Thought for the Day here.
I understand this thought well, when you are feeling compassion, it is that awesome feeling of love that you feel inside. When you just want to burst & cry with love. THAT is being close to God.
Hugs

Thanks for the inspirational post, JT.
Only through compassion for myself and others can I be free from the lonliness of isolation. To be in the presence of others without allowing myself to feel compassion keeps me feeling alone in a crowd and disconnected while in the midst of so much angst.
