The myth of "Stepping down"
Hi all...
I wrote a couple of posts " a couple of weeks ago", and was successful at significantly reducing alcohol consumption.... unfortunately baby still needs a new pair of shoes and the car always requires " a little more gas". In short, kinda up'd the quanity in the last week.
I'm gaining motivation from reading the posts here, and starting my first quit day this weekend (with advice from my personal physician). Weekends are actually a little easier for me to cut back with friends and family around, as apposed to week days where I can "alone" romp to my heart's content.
Thanks for all the advice and look forward to posting positive results.

There's tons of posts here about moderation. It's a very controversial issue, but the consensus by those who are not drinking is that it's not possible.
Good Luck to you. May I suggest that you don't go this alone ?
Also, quitting is the easy part (relatively. I wouldn't consider my Detox easy by any means). Staying stopped is the hard part.

I am very glad that you are in communication with your Doctor.
All I can tell you is that I was never able to taper off or 'step down'.
I needed to detox medically, and I need AA to remain sober.
Welcome NorCal,
Ted

'morning norcalman,
"Just for today" did it for me, Just dont drink TODAY, one day at a time . It is often overwhelming to look ahead to "forever".
Dont pick up the first drink TODAY and you cant get drunk, tomorrow is another day
Good luck
