My own Casino
My own Casino
I have so many white chips I can start my own Casino. I picked up a white chip 22 days ago (again). I was nice enough to return all of the others I had collected over the past 13 years of trying to quit drinking. I was happily married but now am allowed to be in the house to babysit or to take care of things like laundry. I am tired of trying to quit only to start again. I really don't want to drink anymore but the hold that alcohol has over me is like a second person in my brain. How is it possible that I can argue with myself about drinking and lose the arguement. Good to see there is a forum to discuss things when I am unable to go to a meeting. Thanks.

Hi Den!
Welcome aboard! SR is a really great forum where everybody's fantastic and often have really good advice.
I'm not familiar with the chip things, so I wouldn't know what a White Chip symbolyses. But congratulations on your 22 Days (or is it more with your White Chip?). Keep on going!
Have a nice day.

LOL Den13......a fellow AA member shared recently that he had so many white chips he could've decorated his entire bathroom wall ( he now has over 10 years sobriety). Don't give up! Welcome to SR!!!!
I tell my Sponsees this during baseball season. "You can't argue balls and strikes with the Umpire". The Umpire said it's a Strike and you're out! That's That!! the decision has been made.
You can argue if you want but it won't do any good. You can throw your hat on the ground and kick dirt at him if you want. In the end, it's still a strike and you're still out! You are powerless over the call no matter how much you protest.
In this case The Umpire called you an Alcoholic. You can't argue, you can't contest and you can't debate over the call. The call has been made. There is no Instant Replay either.
You just need to sit down in the dugout and accept it. Make peace with it, and move on.
By drinking you are in essence "Arguing" with the Umpire". Trying your best to prove that you can drink normally and control it. You can't. The call has been made.
