51 DAYS - starting to feel better
I feel like I have been in a coma for the last 30 years and I have just waking up from it, I am also feeling better and am able to do more, doing more exercise and having more energy in general and thinking more clearly. Only thing I am still having problems with is my memory, I think it is from the xanax I was taking. Is anyone else experiencing memory problems?
I dunno. I forget....Oh ! Ted's already done that....LMAO.
Yep, I have memory problems too...but they're getting less and less. I never took anything like Xanax either - I figure mine are wholly alcohol related.

Hi Need.
I have 44 days this time. It's my record. I stopped the first time in February and I have had 3 slips since then.
I had to try to remember four sentences for a speech the other day. I just couldn't.
I hope it gets better. I look forward to hearing from more experienced people.

Congrats on your clean time. As for the memory thing I still have problems with mine even after almost 16 months. I just have to accept that this might be as good as it gets. Keep moving forward and keep posting it is so important to connect trust me on that one.

Congrats on the 51 days! I'm really pulling for you!
My memory was like swiss cheese when I sobered up. It returned but I don't remember exactly when. In the meantime try keeping a little notepad with you and jot down a list of what you need to do and then cross it off. It will keep you on track plus you will get a sense of accomplishment everytime you get to check something off.
Hugs,
Kellye C.

Hi,
When I was on Zanax, I lived in another world. I was totally numb to my surroundings..This is also true when I drank heavily...
The only problem while being newly sober was, I couldn't remember much of my past when using..
One of the side effects from Zanax is memory loss.
Congrats on your sober time...

when I sobered up, I started this job at the same time. I had to re-train for it 3 times before I could 'remember' all the computer codes and stuff.
sound about right?

Congrats on 51 days!
I too have some memory problems, however nothing like the problems I was having when I was drinking...blackouts were becoming normal. I believe any problems we are facing in sobriety are mild compared to the ones we had while we were active. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations on 51 days! I am at 54 days and I have noticed that my memory is getting better. The thing that tipped me off was when I logged into one of my online accounts yesterday and I actually remebered the generated password that has no significance to me. I didn't have to consult my book of passwords and accounts other than to confirm my correct recollection. I have had this account for 4 years and have NEVER known the password.

Yea I would say I have a severe case of CRS.
51 days is really good.
I take xanax too and it doesnt do anything except calm me down and make me sleepy. I dont think it makes my memory fail.
But everyone is different.
Just dont forget where SR is.
We are here for you.
