Strength
Strength
Although poems don't necessarily make us feel better, sometimes reading them makes you think; or at least helps reality sink in. I found this and thought i'd share:
"After awhile you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
You learn that love doesn't mean leaning
and comfort doesn't mean security.
you begin to realize kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises.
you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes open.
you learn to build all roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is too unsteady.
And futures have a way of falling down
mid flight.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you
get
too
much.
Don't wait for someone to make you happy.
You really can endure.
You really are strong.
You really do have worth.
And with every loss, with every goodbye, you
learn who people really. are."
