hi im new,

hello 2 all, hope allr well,

i ve drank since 13, more than all my frinds, i am 28 now an 4 past 7 yrs it s got well out of control, last 4 ish yrs i have been drinking in the morning, an when i get bk an then into the night, brandy an beer, also have taken speed since 13 on an off mostly on,

i have been on librium since 11th aug, i drank at 1st but got real sick, dr never said to avoid all beer! so 16th aug was lat drink, im still taking pills as withdrawels were really bad, im still tempted by beer an want to be able to drink moderatlly, i think this may b impossible, but im wondering is there any 1 who can suggest a alternative 2 librium as it s addictive, i ve read about campral an naltrexone an acomprosate, any 1 use these or similar to curb cravings or maintain moderate controlled drinking, thanks xx

hi Rach
I know nothing about any of those drugs - best ask yr doctor.

And, I hope you're different, but for me, moderation just isn't possible once you've reached the drinking in the morning and every night stage...

welcome
D

hi an thanks, teeg

it s been strange 6 days, over the worst physical symptoms, heart almost back to beating right an body tremors going, not sweating like a pig,

but i have woke up few mornings feeling like id been on an all night bender, think it could b the librium, if i am late taking 1 i feel so strange, pins an needlesetc, i really dont want to get hooked on that, as it seems i have a highly addictive personality!!!!

BUT my bf is still havin few beers aftr work an always will, he likes to go ppub sun afternoons etc, i so want a beer if i get stressed, but coos i got sick on librium an beer it s been the deterent thats enabled me to have longest run dry ever in 4 + yrs,

i need to find a non addictive craving drug that works, i dont like the thought a bein hooked on librium, or being an out a control drunk, my brain still feels like a bowl a sloppy porridge only now im constantly battling not to give in where as b4 i didnt think just robotically bought alcohol an turned my brain to porridge xxx

Hi rach . I agree with Dee... you should really talk to your doctor. That would be your best source of info regarding you and what medications you should use.I've never taken the ones you mentioned , but I'm sure someone will be along that has and will answer your questions.

Hi Rach welcome to SR.

Sorry i can't help you with all the different pills, beats me what they do
to people. i stopped taking pills when I stopped the drinking, so i don't
keep up to date of what pills are what anymore.

My GF on the other hand has to take medication , all kinds of medication
and i don't know what is what. She tries to educate me to why she
has to take them. They're not all mental medications, But if she dosn't
take them it effects her mentally and physically.

She talks to her Doc a lot thou, instead of trying to self medicate.
She's getting better.

i hope you find your answers.

Here's a link to wiki. Says it is a benzo. Sedative/hypnotic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlordiazepoxide

Getting a diff doc asap would be a good idea.

Hi Rach,

Welcome!

We are really not able to give any kind of medical advice and you need to keep asking your dr or find a new dr who will answer your questions.

I am glad you found us and that you have figured your way around the boards.
