Who are you?
I notice that we've had quite a few new members join us here on SR - Welcome!
Some time ago, one of our members started a thread that gave newer members the opportunity to introduce themselves, and to share something that wasn't necessarily recovery-related.
So, really new, newish, or kinda old, please jump in and share a bit about yourself.
I'll start. My name is Rowan and my most prized possession is my library card. I love to read!

Hi Rowan....Ruch here. Ruch isn't my real name but I'm still slightly paranoid from all the booze and not ready to give the real name.
I am a newlywed and me and my wife are planning to start a family very soon. A family in addition to the two doggies and one cat we already have.

Hi,
I'm Anna. I have two grown children, both of them married to wonderful people.
I have just added two Siamese kittens to our household where 2 year old Kona is the king. So, we're trying to settle them in.
I love music and I walk/hike a lot.

Hi Everyone!
The thing I have done that made me feel
especially proud is earning my private piolets license.
That was many years ago and women aviators were unusual.
At almost 72...I am living with joy and serenity.
I sure have not missed a darn thing!!

Hi I'm Cat, and you know, I have noticed in so many of the posts how much our animal companions mean to us. I dont know how many of you would agree, but there is something so stabilizing about having those little beasts nearby. I have 4 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 rats, and a bunch of fish. They make me unbelievably happy.
Otherwise, I am an artist and a teacher of art to high schoolers. I love teaching and creating. My pets, my art, and my students have helped to prioritize, I dont think I would be drug-free without those things. Its been since June that I got my studio, and coincidentally, its been since June that I have been Drug-free!!
ANyway, my secret plan and goal is to work hard enough and put my heart into my art to the level where I can start showing in NYC in a big way. Never would be able to do that and be out clubbing...
I also love exercise, yoga, the outdoors, and laughing. I cant sit still, I constantly want to DO stuff and experience life, and I have a big heart. I want nothing more than to be a good person and lead a good life, and enrich others a long the way.
Cheesy,. but true.
Thanks Rowan

Hi, I must be the only one here who doesnt have any pets!
I do have a wonderful 2 year old son though who has transformed my life. Actually he plays a large part in reasons to get sober. I cant stand the thought of him gorwing up with a father who is a drunk.
I am happilly married - at least until the drinking started to push a wedge between us. My wife is learning to trust me once again and I have real hope our marriage can get back to where it used to be.
I work in London's financial sector in fixed income. Can be long hours and pretty stressful at time but I enjoy it and it lets me use the one thing I have been genuinly talented at in my life which is maths. I worry that this mind fog I am experiencing during my recovery will damage my clarity of thought long term but I sense it will be okay.
I live outside of London itself about 30 km away on the city fringes Its great because I have access to London itself but also have beautiful countryside on my doorstep. I also enjoy walking out of my office in the evening and crossing the thames via waterloo bridge on the way to my train station. On a sunny evening the Thames literally shines and the view of St Pauls, Big ben and tower bridge never ceases to take my breath away.
I read a lot and am an architecture fanatic. I also ran a lot until the drink took over about three years ago and had completed 3 London marathons. i am thinking of running the New York next year as part off my long term recovery goals although only time will tell if my body will recover enough to let me do so.
Thats it! Pleased to meet y'all

Hi! I'm Scott, and I'm totally addicted to recovery from alcoholism and codependancy.
My favorite things in life are my children, my wonderful and supportive girlfriend, and my screen name comes from my passion with amateur astronomy.
I think Rowan's really cool for starting this thread!

My name is Jen. I've been sober from alcohol since 12/3/05. Both my parents are recovering alcoholics. My dad's been sober for 38ish years and my mom for 5.
I've been with my GF, C for close to 10 years. We've got three dogs that are like our kids and spoiled rotten. I like to garden too but I don't have a problem like K does.
Thanks for this thread Rowan.
