Smile 7 days clean

Today @ 7 pm i was exactly 7 days clean. Through the help of God and the power of NA I am fighting my way to a better life without the use of drugs. My girlfriend has just encouraged me to finish school so i can pursue a career in addictions counseling. I know I'm only a week clean but the thought of me saving another life motivates me to live my life in a fashion that will encourage others to do the same. I've been to 14 meetings in 7 days and feel better than I have in years. Hopefully with the will of God and the support of my new family in NA I can follow through with my goals and lead the life that I pictured for myself as far back as i can remember. I have 3 beautiful daughters that I almost lost due to my addiction. I thank God and my new family for guiding me in the direction of a life without the use of drugs. Thank you for listening and God bless .

Good job! That is a great! I too would love to be in that field. What type of schooling do you need by the way! A masters? Thanks!

Thanks Mike. I will be majoring in behavioral health. A masters is required. I'm a server at applebees at the moment which gives me a good opportunity to go back to school. My schedule is very flexible. Plus my girlfriend is very supportive and will be making enough money to get us by til I finish . She's my sugarmama, lol. Thank's for the reply and best wishes in your recovery.

Het Cad4dale,
Nice job on the 7 days. When I got sober (AA) I went back to school right away as well. It was good for me. I felt like I was really doing good things for myself. That was 11 years ago. Still sober and along the way picked up a master's degree and am now working on my doctorate (Urban Educational Leadership). Go for it! And take care of that sugarmama.

Hey mikel60. I appreciate the encouragement. Wow, 11 years. It's definitely something for me to look forward to. It's also great to hear from people who followed through with their education. This is the feedback that i am looking for. Lol, and in regards to my girlfriend, without her my life would be like food without seasoning. She is so supportive of me even after all I put her through because of my addiction. She didn't give up on me and I will be forever grateful. Thank's again for your feedback, knowing that there are people out there that care enough to respond keep me moving on.

Thank you. I really do appreciate your reply. This is definitely the therapy I need to stay clean and sober. My life has been so much better in the short period of time I've been clean. Thank's for being a friend, take care.

Congratulations! Your future career path is an admirable one that will truly be beneficial to those you will someday help. It sounds like you are doing what you need to be doing right now and are headed on the right path.

Good luck and best wishes to you!!!

Hi gerette, Thank you. It feels good to have so many friends out there who can appreciate what is going on in my life without knowing me. Thanks again and I'm a big fan of up state NY. I did a lot of truck driving there. Mostly Saugerties and Poughkeepsie. A little of Kingston also. I really liked the atmosphere.
