TOPIC: How Can You Be a Positive Influence In Someones Elses Recovery?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and people like
you here in SR I havent had a drink of
alcoholic since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely grateful.
As we continue on our recovery journey
one day at a time, in order to keep what
was so freely passed on to us, we must
give it away.
Is there something you can do or say
to be a positive influence in someone
elses recovery.
PASS IT ON.
Sharing your experiences, strengths
and hopes of what it was like before
while drinking or drugging, what happened
to you and what is it like now that u r
in recovery.
Thanks for letting me share.

A positive influence for me is to remain responsible in
my actions. Actions for me speak louder than words....
I guess i recall as a child hearing something like children
should be seen and not heard...however how harsh of is
that to ask of a child....no child should ever be hushed
up in a way to silence them from laughter or even the
freedom of speech. That to me is cruelty...
Anyway...back to positive influence....
For me it means to suit up and show up in order
to allow others to see me....if they dont see me
in recovery then how will they know if im still sober
and practicing the principles of our program.
Im about to reach my 17th yr in recovery in
2 weeks....i havent picked up a chip in 10 yrs
because i relocated to Houston during that
time and i never really connected to AA over there
like i should have,,,,however i have returned to
BR and have returned to my meetings and AA family.
In order to be a positive influence to others, I
should be responsible and pick up my chip....
i do get nervous when i get ready to speak but
i really should do this....keeping it simple is in order.
