Back Again
Back Again
Deja vu. Like Groundhog day. I made it an entire 25 days before having a beer (albeit "low alcohol") at my husband's friend's brew pub. I had just one, and it was great. Had another the next night, too. I felt ok with that. Two days later, my daughter and I stopped to see relatives at the lake house where we typically spend vacations. I figured, well -- I'm "out" again, so I had two bloody marys and stopped there. I intended after that, to go back to "abstinence at home."
The problem is, that lasted just three days. I haven't been drinking every night like before, so I wanted to believe I could drink moderately. The problem is, I keep coming back to feeling that I really can't. Keep it under control, I mean. In one month I had only two hangovers -- one mild, but the other resulted in a morning of vomiting. That wasn't something I'd done for years, but it was a wakeup call.
SO -- I'm back.
Day one.

Welcome back. Someone said to me "Your drinking can start 'here' (getsturing with her plans to an 'okay place') and it can stay 'here' (that same place) for a while...but if find that you're always landing 'here' (a place that is not good) then the problem started where everything was 'under control'...the original 'here'."
What she said really resonated. Thank you for sharing your experience because it reinforced the idea that even if I'm okay one night or even for a while...eventually it will not be okay.
