Letting Go

Just a quick share of something I have posted on my fridge! (My mother actually sent to me as I learned (still a work in progress) to let go of alot of things in my childhood and today)

LETTING GO

To let go doesn’t mean to stop caring. It means, “I can’t do it for someone else.”

To let go is not to cut myself off: it’s the realization that I can’t control another.

To let go is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To let go is not to try to change or blame another. I can only change myself.

To let go is not to care for, but to care about.

To let go is not to fix but to be supportive.

To let go is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to effect their own outcomes.

To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality.

To let go is not to deny but to accept.

To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, but to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.

To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes and to cherish the moment.

To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone but to try and become what dream I can be.

To let go is not to regret the past but to grow and live for the future.

To let go is to fear less and love more.

*********

We all have 3 persons to contend with in our lives:

The Person we were; the Person we are; and the Person we want to become.

If we can forgive the person that we were, accept the Person that we are and believe in the Person we wish to be…then we will have a happy life filled with forgiveness, acceptance and hope.

I know all of these to be true, they all make perfect sense and I understand them. But practicing them is another story, I struggle and fight with these concepts every day.

Progress, not perfection. Thanks, Rella! I'll post these on my fridge too.

Thanks for this!!
Astro- I, too, struggle with practicing these. I get caught up in how I'm going to GET there that I still stay in the same spot. I am paralyzed by fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, fear of myself.

I'm ready to heal.

I too struggle with these too Astro and yes they are so true!! It is a great feeling though when some are reached and can actually be applied!

I rather have progress over perfection any day Astro!
