Question so much time to kill!

Alright, so I'm coming up on my first big chunk of free time since I've been sober (day 2)... what good sober activities does everyone get involved in outside of meetings and work? It seems like I've inherited so much free time. I think I'm going to clean up my apartment, maybe read a book. This feels so weird.

Read a book, work on the house, take a walk, hike, bike ride, motorcycle ride, call a friend, do chores, watch a movie, go to an AA meeting, go out for coffee with other AA'ers, go to another meeting, play paintball, go camping, fishing, try a new hobby, go shopping, etc. etc. etc.

Trust me, there's plenty of things to do besides drinking. If I choose to isolate and be bored it's because I'm being self-centered and I'm feeling self-pity. When that happens, only I have the power of choice to take action, pull my head out of my butt, and do something worthwhile.

That's what I did.

You'll find as you work your way through recovery that that free time is going to again disappear. At least it did for me.

I'm starting to take up bike riding. Get back to nature a little bit & call that my *me* time to reflect, yet exercise. Books could be very inspirational. I like to play drums & ride my ATV too.
It's amazing that when we first sober up we don't know what to do with all the time.
We had plenty of time to use though.

Above all, stay strong & sober. I thought that when I got sober, that meant no more fun. Boy was I 100% wrong.
I'm actually doing a lot more around the house & man does that reflect nice with the wife & family.
I am amazed at how many people I look up to, that are my age, do not use.
Maybe go to a meeting & meet a friend.
The possibilities are endless....................
My goal is to actually accomplish some of the things I have always *talked* about doing when using & do them sober!!
