Just to Say Hi
Hi.
I don't even know what I really want to say here. I'm very much a newcomer to sobriety... like, within the last hour.
I want to stop, I desperately do.
I found this message board via a search engine and even though there are recovery programs in my area, I just can't see myself taking part in them right now. I know that face to face recovery is the goal and that online support isn't really a substitute, but this is what I can do right now.

You're right, get yourself to a meeting, if you don't like what it has to offer they will refund your misery. Of course you can get to a mtg. I you don't have a car look up your local chapter, call and someone will come get you. The 1st step of the 12 steps really should be "shut up and get in the car"
You say you desperately want to stop...start one step at a time...get to a mtg.
Read SR to get motivated...but then intead of picking up...get out to a mtg.It begins there. Keep it simple.

Hi sporkboy, welcome to SR. I'll echo the suggestion of getting to a meeting. It might be a little uncomfortable at first, but for many of us they're the only solution to sobriety.
Welcome !
Desperate is good. Maybe after a little longer, you'll be willing to do some face to face. This place is great, but it ain't the real thing.
That said, there's great people and advice here.

Hi Sporkboy,
I've been clean for two weeks today! I'm in outpatient 3 nights a week and I'm attend NA Meetings another 3 nights week.
It's really helping me and I know I have along way to go and alot of issues to work through.
Wishing you luck!

Good job on doing your first post Spork!
I am very new as well & I am very glad I found this place as one of my avenues of support.
13 days sober today & look at me......posting away.
Any time I am having struggles, day or night, I know I can put a post up & caring people will be there.
How is that for comfort?
I do a lot of irrational thinking & thinking too much sometimes. I think a member here called it *head miles*.
This seems like a great place to talk to a true friend.
Congrats on the 1 hour!

Sporkboy,
Welcome. Thank you for posting - that was a big first step. Please continue to do so - we are always grateful to have new members. I understand the fear around f2f meetings - you'll go when you're ready. In the meantime, hope to see lots more of you around.
