Going to try again- hope I make it

Hi everyone,

I haven't wrote anything serious in a while. It's time. I have set a quit day and I'm going to try again. I'm not giving up that i can have what you guys have. I know a lot of you don't like the setting a date, but that's what works for me. I am going back to AA also. That's the only thing that works for me also.

I love this forum. I think there is so much spirituality on the forum with everyone. I need that back badly and i know the only way i will get it back is to quit drinking for good. I feel more accepted and loved on here then i do on my cat forum and paranormal one. I guess that's all for now. My arm is hurting bad today so i don't want to write a lot. Thanks for being here and listening.

scaredykat;

That's wonderful to hear! You'll find a lot support in AA. As well as here.

It was hard for me to make that decision- I've been in and out since 2003 now. But I find acceptance there. You've made a good choice.

Oh- and Stone- are those your kitties? That's a cute picture!

Thanks everyone. I hope i don't let you down again, and especially myself. The last time I had good sobriety was in 1992 and I still remember how i felt. All the bad and hard parts, but especially the good and all the friends I had.

I'm a little worried about doing the steps again though. How do I know if I'm doing them correctly? When i hit 9 months sober the sponsor I had at the time had me do my 4th step. Then right after i did the 5th and 6th steps. Her husband was also present threw all this. Now at the time when i told other people about it, they where like "what?" "You shouldn't have done all those steps like that".

It seems like everyone has a different way of doing them or something. I haven't had good luck finding good sponsors in the past. I had one sponsor (God love her), that didnt help much at all, if any with step work. She mostly liked to gossip. lol

I think this time I'll just ask the guys running the meeting that I need a temp. sponsor from their book and go from there.

I liked the kitty pictures stone and chiynita.
I also hope your doing alright chiynita. I've read your posts and know your struggling also. Take care.

Scaredy..

Hun..you are entirely welcome and loved here..

One thing..don't make promises..they can be self defeating!

Just one 24 hours at a time..you have the desire to stop..you are a

qualifed member of AA..wow.

You might try reading the Big Book..it may be a guide in what to expect

from a good sposnor..and remember..you can always "fire" them and choose

another if its not working for you.after all..its (your) program.

Love,

IO

?!?!?!?

I did 4 by myslef, then 5 with my sponsor an a Saturday aftenoon.

Per the book, 6 and 7 came right after 5. Like, an hour later.

(Paraphrased from memory) "Arriving home, we sit and quietly think about what we have said. We then pull down the Big Book from the shelf, and turn to this page. We ask ourselves, have we done everything to our satisfaction ? have we left any stones unturned ? When we are ready, we pray something like this: "My creator, i am now ready for you to have all of me, good and bad....."

Hi Barb . I'm glad you're back. I think it's good that you've set a date and even better that you are TRYING again. That's the important part. Going back to AA with an open attitude is probably going to serve you well finding sponsors and whatnot. Stick around and keep us posted. You can never have too much support.

Hi everyone, I'm doing all right today. I talk to my sister on the phone this afternoon and she knows I'm going back into the program. we talked about the steps and how she done them. She was in Al-anon at one time. I don't think she's in it any more since getting married and having a baby. Maybe she'll go back too, since I am.

I should tell you my quit date. It's Mon. 16. I'm reading AA literature everyday and getting my mind ready for this. I'm done with this. I'm tired of living a sheltered and lonely life. I'm tired of being home alone day in and day out. It's time to join life again and try to live it the best I can sober.

My in-laws are finally having my husbands and my Birthday party on sat and my husbands vacation is over this weekend. Monday everything's back to normal and a good day for Day #1. I'm going to the 12:00 meeting that day and getting another 24 hour chip. I have hope that this time i can do it.

Hi everyone, I'm still quitting on Mon. I told my family about it today. I'm definitely ready. I've been crying the past two nights when I go to bed after drinking. I'm not sure why. I've also been having drunk dreams already which is weird because I'm still drinking. That's never happened before. Has this happened to anyone?

Tomorrow is my last night to drink and I'm dumping out whatever is left. That's a mistake I did a couple weeks ago. I hid it in the cupboard instead of throwing it out. I'm also making a Dr's. appointment on Mon. I have to get my thyroid checkout. I'll probably get put on medication for it. I think my thyroid is too slow. I looked it up on the computer.
