She is back in the Hospital Again
Yep, Can't learn her lesson, had to drink again, it was only a matter of time until it caught up with her. Since she was drinking she was not taking her meds properly and took some combination that whacked her kidneys out. I took her in for adominal stoppage and she had a heart attack in the ER. She is now in the CCU, but is doing OK. A side effect is that she got her MRSA back Staff Pnemonia, I don't know how bad this is for her now. How can someone go to three drug rehabs (one 3 1/2 months), lose their nursing license and keep drinking, I guess this is baffling and cunning.
Welcome,
Yes, this disease is so baffling, and there is no cure. It is a life long battle and unfortunately few stay sober for life.
I am sorry you are going through this, yet again.
Keep posting, it will help.

Welcome to Sober Recovery.
I am sorry to hear about your loved one. Maybe this time will be her bottom. I hope you will look to your own behaviors and see how changing yourself can help you learn to cope.

Oh my gosh Cowboy. I am going through the exact same thing with my sister right now. She was a nurse too years ago when she was sober. She is a falling down drunk right now and in the hospital yet again for threatening to kill herself yesterday. She has been in and out of rehabs so many times. I am just sick of it. And the drs. prescribe meds which she gobbles up and then starts drinking again. I don't think it will end until she dies from it. It is so awful.

Thanks for this info. It is really hard to believe. My wife is now ending day 12 in Critical Care Unit. She did get off the ventilator yesterday. Now I have lost two weeks work as they wouldn't let me back at work, and I am hourly.
Yes the docs prescribe morphine etc. for her.
Boy is this crazy!
What???!!!
Your work won't let you back???
If you work for a company that employs more than 50 people, your job is protected under the Family Leave Act. Is there a human resource dept that you can contact?
Shame on them for being so heartless!!! I'm so sorry that on top of what you are going through that your company is being a bunch of A-holes.

OK, She is getting out tomorrow or the next day. She is really lucky, will be 100%. Says she won't drink and go to AA. Do have to say she is freaked out, doesn't remember starting a new job and working for a week before going to er. Thought she was in Colorado when we are in Bend, Oregon. I hope she really gets it this time. Thanks all for the support!!!

I hope she gets it too. Must be tough to work your program when she's in the hospital. I mean, that's pretty big stuff to deal with. I would think she'd have more success stopping, if she were ready to stop, and not due to this event. Sure, she may be scared, but she's being given a clean bill of health now. Once the shock of it all wears off, I can see lots of rationalizing going on upstairs.
Drinking sucks so bad. I feel for you. I hope she does kick it. I hope you find or have continued peace either way.
