SD met with AD - first time in over 2 years!

SD was scared and apprehensive but wanted to see her neice, who will be 2 in August!

She went to AD's apt and was pleasantly surprised. It went amazingly well but SD's recovery was shining very brightly.

AD is coming over on Sunday for father's day - it was Mr. M's final say and he thought it might be nice to have both here and especially the grandbaby! I think he is looking forward to that than anything.

Hope it goes well but I think we are all capable, and AD might be surprised to see something different than she might expect. I hope she gets the hint that any "chaos" in her life will remain right where it is.

I'm looking forward to a pleasant day - at least on my part!

It did my heart good to hear that they were able to get together today and not end up in a fight.

Things are looking up!

Love ya,
hugs,
marteen

Ahhhhh...this made me smile so...I'm so happy your daughters had a good visit together and your SD saw her neice. I'm sure father's day will be a sepcial time with wonderful memories. You have no expectations and clear boundaries and those are great things.

Enjoy and please let us know how the day goes. Hugs Marteen, I know you are so busy, but I love seeing you post!!

Happy happy news !

This is a shining example of how ONE person's recovery can affect a whole lot of family dynamics.

I wish you and Mr M a wonderful weekend. Special Father's Day hugs to him from me.

Wow...that's a great step in a positive direction. I hope the whole family has a great father's day weekend.
And, Marteen, your recovery is so strong and shining that any attempt to bring any kind of chaos your way will be deflected.

All of you have been instrumental and an important part of my recovery - I did NOT get here alone!!!

It just proves that those of us who came here thinking that our life was over and we had absolutely no where to turn and no way to handle our loved ones addiction can turn their life around. There truly is life after a loved ones addiction. It's not easy and it doesn't erase the pain, but it does make things bearable.

One thing for sure, I will NEVER, EVER allow that kind of chaos or destruction to take control of MY life again! For that alone, I am so, so grateful.

Thank you, everyone, for being a part of my journey and in the pages of my recovery journal!

Hugs,
Marteen
