Update on my situation with my friend
Just a little update.....
A few weeks ago I asked for your opinions about what I should do regarding contacting my best friend who I had not spoken to in almost 2 years. I found out that she had cervical cancer.
Well, just before I was about to send her an e mail, she spoke to our other friend online (the one who told me about the cancer, etc.) and asked how I was doing.
But the thing that got me was that she didn't just ask "How is Lisa?" (And you thought OurBigSecret was my real name! lol) She had to ask "How is Lisa doing with her choices?" She explained that it was my 'choice' not to talk to her. I guess I really didn't have a 'choice' since if I continued to talk to her all she would do is yell at me! (The fight, btw, was about her just freaking out on me for no reason when I said I wasn't sure if my daughter (11 at the time) still believed in Santa Claus. This led to her ranting about women's rights and my parenting and everything but the kitchen sink!)
In the end I decided to ignore that 'choice' part and just sent her an e mail that said I heard she was sick and I hope she gets well. I also heard she is going to get married and I wished her well with that. (She is going to need it I'm sure. She is marrying her abusive ex who was/is also an alcoholic and I think has mental issues. She says he has been in 4 years of therapy but I'm not so sure he could ever change. But that is another story!)
I wish her well, my conscience is clear.
She sent me an e mail thanking me.
I don't think I'm going to contact her again. At least not now.
I feel ok about that.
At least for now.
Thanks for all the support, I really needed it.

You have made your peace with her, your side of the street is clean. If this relationship makes you uncomfortable, there is no reason to take it further.
It's a nice thing you did, wishing her well.
Hugs
