Most "real life" movie of addiction...

Okay, folks. I'm strarting a new thread/poll...

Late last night, I watched a movie on the Sundance channel.
It was called "Down To The Bone".
I'd never seen this movie before, and believe me, I've seen all the addiction movies
that are made. You could say, I have a real addiction for'em. No pun intended.
I get a real charge out of watching actors/actresses depict addicts.
I guess I'm secretly looking for answers on the why/how come truth to it all.
The madness, I mean.
The reality is, there are more and more of these films made every year.
Wake up call? We can only pray that's true.
Okay, so this woman (unknown actress to me) is addicted to Cocaine.
She's married with 2 young boys. Her husband is a daily drinker and uses coke, as well. When I started watching, about 1/2 hour into it because House was on, lol,
she was considering leaving rehab to get back home to her kids.
There was a guy there who she really connected with. He was a sort of mentor.
She goes home and things are fine for a day or so. Then hubby and friends are using in front of her. Geesh! WTF?
She leaves with the kids to get ice cream.
Anyway, after becoming involved with the mentor, she catches him shooting up heroin.
Btw, this is a very graphic film, so for those with triggers...I wouldn't reccommend watching it.
It used to be so hard for me to witness drug abuse on television, now I don't have too much of a problem with it. Except for Intervention. That show is...real life, and scary as all he!!
Back to the story line. They both start using together. You can see the effect on everyone, especially her children. It was heartwretching to watch that.
Anyway, don't wanna give it all away, but trust me, there was no happy ending for anyone. 'Nuff said.
If you can rent it, watch.
I'm no film critic, but I give this film an B+ for raw content.

Talk atcha later,
Love and prayers to all,
Linda

Bookmiser,
My daughter watched Intervention last week for the first time, and was absolutely horrified. I decided not to even try to see it...... it is my husband who is the crack addict, it must be so difficult to watch that show when it's your dad that is the addict. She didn't talk too much about it, and I'm at the point whwere there's little to say now that can help any of my kids deal with this. At least ah finally went to see her for a few minutes, after ignoring her for over a year.
Thanks for your post, I'm glad I'm not the only one still trying to find some kind of answers.
