Soup

It comes to something when a bowl of soup is the highlight of the day. Whether I can eat it/keep it down is another matter. No other point really, wanted to say I am here fighting. I really appreciate the support I have received here and a post titled 'soup' seemed amusing for 2 seconds.

Enjoy your soup, stone. Hey, ever seen that kids book about stone soup? Lol

Maybe I should start a thread called "Pop-Tarts"! That's what I kept stuffing my face with in early sobriety;-)

Stone I am sorry you are having difficulty eating your soup. You could try reading your soup " Chicken Soup For the Soul"

Just for you, stone:

Three travelers stopped in a small town on their way to the city. They had tents to sleep in, but no food or money. They knocked on doors asking for a little food, but the people were poor, with little to eat and nothing to spare.

Cheerfully, they returned to their camp and built a fire. "What are you doing?" asked a bystander, "Building a fire with nothing to cook?"

"But we do have something to cook!" they said. "Our favorite dish, stone soup. We only need a pot."

"I think I can find one," said one of the bystanders, and she ran home to fetch it.

When she returned, the travelers filled the pot with water and placed two large stones in it. "This will be the finest soup we've ever made!" said the first traveler. "I agree," said the second, "but don't you think it would taste better with a cabbage in it?"

"I think I can find one," said another bystander. And so it went the whole afternoon until, by evening, the travelers had a hearty, fragrant feast, which they shared with the hungry townspeople.

Sometimes it is the simple things, Stone. I was sharing in a meeting today how my gratitude list yesterday started with Salad... (I was having a tough day and couldn't think of anything until I remembered this GREAT salad I had... of course, that opened the floodgates to all the things I am grateful for)

I guess we go together... Except who'll be the bread? lolol xo

Yeah, there are several of them. There is even one for recovering alcoholics titled "Chicken Soup For The Recovering Soul". I have not read that one yet, but I think I will.

Astro,

I thought of Stone Soup also - but then - the thread is called Soup, and it's authored by Stone, so maybe it's not such a coincidence after all lol!

Stone,

If all you can manage is fluids (non-alcoholic!! lol) , drink all you can. I loved gingerale too - good for a restless tummy.

Xwinner,

Welcome to SR - glad to have you on board!

Stone,

Hang in there, my friend!

If a bowl of soup amuses you for a couple of seconds, that's great! Whatever it takes.

Stone, soup was about all I could eat when I was detoxing, just eat it slow, but eat.

Congrats on day one!

My thoughts are with you. I am not much for praying, but I will make alot of wishes that you will be OK.

Hang in there!
