joining the crowd
Hi all:
I've spent the last several years burning energy, trying to figure out what to do to get relief from my husband's love of beer. I've been praying for SOMEBODY to help me. I've felt all alone and isolated fighting against this huge immovable object that is causing me pain.
I finally realized that there is SOMEBODY who can help me. The last person I thought to run to for help. That's the person in the mirror.
It has been a great help to find Al-anon, reading Melody Beattie's book, and reading of the experiences of all of you on this site.
I just couldn't help but sign on and say hello, express my gratitude to whoever is maintaining this site, and to offer encouragement to anyone who's discovered that alcohol is stealing their joy.
Seeing the truth with eyes wide open may not be pleasant, but the alternative is slavery.

Welcome! I'm glad you joined us. When I first starting working on myself and my program I did a lot of reading in here too. It really was an eye opener to discover there were people like me who had gone thru the same things I had. I too had felt weighed down by a huge burden, didn't know where to turn for help, felt isolated and alone. I discovered I was hugely co-dependant and ate up everything Melody Beattie had in print. With the help of my Alanon friends and with my HP helping me along the way I found the strength to crawl out of my hole and take control of my life again.

glad you've come in and so glad you
have found alanon.Its certainly helped
me cope in the midst of such pain. that
person you found in the mirror was able to
realize they needed help and the choice was
yours to seek it.
The program works if you work it and as i'm growing
in it , it just keeps getting better showing me ways to
make my life better.
