Prayers Please
I see some of you are in a bad spot right now. My heart aches for you.I somewhat feel guilty asking for this prayer request.
As some of you may remember my last letter,my Grandson entered a Hospital Detox Unit last night.
He is having a difficult time tonight.I expected as much. They have given him Ativan several times and when I left he was out of it sleeping. This is much harder to witness than I expected. My Daughter cried all the way home tonight.I am having her stay with me for a few weeks to support each other emotionally as well as my Grandson.
I keep telling her that this really is the best for him. He is being monitored and cared by for by a Staff who deals with this type of crisis everyday.
While I was visiting he was feeling very ill.Vomiting,diarrhea,sweating. He cried when he saw me. My heart felt so heavy. All I could see was him as a small boy for some reason.
I told him how proud I was of him for going into detox and he hugged me exactly like he used to when he was little. It is a sad time for us. Still a HUGE step for him to begin recovery.
I would just like prayers for my Daughter, his Mother.Prayers needed for Grandson as well that he will have a peaceful night.
Any words of wisdom for me to give his Mother? She is so distraught.

Hi Rosalie,
Hugs and of course some extra prayers for all in your family.
Words of advice? I'm a mom and have seen my son come off of drugs a couple times. It's hard to watch them suffer but it's a price the addict pays when they choose to pick up. It can also become a very good deterrant to prevent relapse. I would tell his mom to learn about addiction, take care of herself and get to as many Alanon or Naranon meetings as possible. That's what I did.

Rosalie,
I watched my ex go through at once. It was not easy to watch and to feel so helpless.
At least you can take some comfort in knowing that he's being monitored and helped by professionals.
Prayers are on their way for your grandson, your daughter, and for you. Please keep us updated.

Its a disease like any other, the treatment of it isnt pretty. Might be better to stay away for a while and let the pro's help him thru it. Kinda like when a surgeon operates....I dont want to be there to see the gruesomeness of it...I want to be serene and peaceful so when I do visit the patient, I can give hope, a positive attitude and good love.
This bad part will pass...and if the family gets well too, hopefully he will get well and sober and never have to go thru this again.

This american native hippie is sending prayers to the spirits for you and yours Rosalie. (((((()))))
Advice?
Live in the day and appreciate the gifts we are giving. The "little" things, like a sunrise in the morning, the birds out your window and the love in our lives. And know, that this too will pass, and the next day will be better.
Peace

You have the prayers for all rosalie, I am also praying that he was the one who made the decision to put himself into detox, his chance of staying sober go up 1,000% if he is doing this because he wants to do it and not because someone forced him to do it.

Keeping you, your GS and his mother in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, this will be the start of a new and better way of living for him and he will not have to go through this again.....like the pain of childbirth fades by the miracle of a new life!

Thankyou all so much for the wonderful letters.
TAZ,no he went into this detox of his own free will ,with our support.
Today the nurses tell me he is doing much better,They told me he did sleep all last night and most of today as well.(I am sure the prayers helped from all of you) They are going to cut back on the Ativan now and are going to give him an evaluation tomorrow(psych).
Then there will be a family conference with follow up treatment.
He should be home by Friday. If they think he is ready.
Thankyou again,Rosalie
