I returned from the detox center yesterday

First off, it was probably the best thing I have ever done for myself. It was a very positive exprience. At first, I kind of rolled my eyes at what was being fed to me, and then I started to make friends as the fog cleared...it was pretty amazing. Everyone there (aside from the people who were there to avoid court, etc.) could relate in some way or another, to exactly what I was going through. I've been sober for six full days now, and to be honest, the thought of drinking makes me want to puke. Is that normal? I don't feel the urge to drink, I just don't know what to do with myself lol.

Also...will the sweaty palms go away soon?

Hi Fade,

Welcome back! I'm glad you made it back to us. What are you going to do to preserve your sobriety? Do you plan on going to AA? I couldn't do it on my own.
Please keep posting - we need you here.

Rowan

Yeah, I'm kind of nervous when it happens..it's weird. I get a feeling like "I'm supposed to be drinking and taking xanax right now" but it's fleeting and very hard to explain. The feelings don't last but a minute or two, but the thought of actually DOING it is what makes me want to hurl. I have dreams about using, but they are just dreams, so I'm ok with that..hopefully they will go away in time.

I know I'm not out of the woods, and life is gonna throw me some curve balls that may change the way I feel right this moment, but I'm going to do my best not to back down.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes

Rowan:

Yes, I have an IOP schedule set up, and I exchanged phone numbers with several of the people I was in detox with. Were gonna try to hit up the meetings and stay together as much as we can.

Congrats on your 6 days Fade, I'm happy to hear that your detox was a positive experience!

It sounds like you've got a plan, try to make those meetings every day and kick your recovery program into gear.
